Many of us often feel overwhelmed by the saturation of billboards, advertisements, and other messages that are embedded in our day-to-day life. Mini Wardrobe Showroom parodies the absurdity of marketing and tactics corporations use to sell us unnecessary and oftentimes impractical products. The videos, “influmercials,” are drawn from both traditional infomercials and more contemporary approaches to marketing via social media platforms. I drew inspiration from commercials I watched on TV growing up, and influencer content I see today. The space becomes hyperreal: blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, digital and physical spaces, and desire and aversion. By having all of the videos play simultaneously in the space, I aim to mimic the chaotic and overwhelming nature of being online.
